Summer Drinks

Hello lovelies! With summer finally arriving and the heat actually rising above 12°C you need to stay hydrated. Sometimes plain water can get a bit boring so I made three drinks I want to share with you. All my recipes so I hope you like them.
All three of these need a bit of preparation but making one drink took about a half hour. For the rhubarb and ginger ones you will need to make a syrup as a base and then add water.

Virgin Strawberry Mojito  Serves 2

You will need:
5 strawberries
1/2 lime, 5 wedges
10 mint leaves
2 tbsp sugar
sparkling water
ice (optional)

Start by crushing the mint and 1 lime wedge with a muddler. Later add 2 more wedges, the sugar and 2 strawberries and crush (I use frozen berries but you can use fresh ones). Spoon the mixture into two glasses, put the last wedges and remaining strawberries in the glasses. Finally, add ice and then fill with sparkling water.

Lemon-Ginger RefreshersServes 4

Syrup:
Small ginger root
300 ml water
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp lemon juice

Drink:
Juice of one lemon
1/2 l water
Syrup
Lemon wedges for decoration (optional)

Cut the ginger into pieces and put into a saucepan. Then add about 300 ml of water. Boil for about 40 minutes with the lid on, stirring once in a while. In 40 minutes remove from heat and sieve the water from the ginger bits. Add the sugar and the lemon juice and boil again until the sugar has dissolved. Let cool for half an hour. Pour the mixture into a jug and then add the rest of the lemon juice and 1/2 l of water. Serve!

Rhubarb and Raspberry Fizzer  Serves 2

Syrup:
Two rhubarb stalks
10 raspberries
300 ml water
2 mint leaves, cut up (optional)
2 tbsp sugar

Drink:
Sparkling water
Syrup
Raspberries (optional)

Cut rhubarb and mint into pieces. In a saucepan add together rhubarb, raspberries, mint and water. Simmer until the rhubarb has gone soft. (If you feel like the water disappears quickly you can add some.) Sieve the mixture so the mixture is clear. You can save the compote and use it for baking, on yoghurt or in smoothies. Pour the liquid into the saucepan and add sugar. Simmer until the syrup is a bit thicker and/or sugar has dissolved. Let cool for a bit. Pour into two glasses and then add sparkling water and raspberries. You can also add more water if you want it less strong.

Thanks so much for reading. I hope you like these drinks and they can hydrate you during hot days this summer.

Massachusetts 2017

Travelling is one of my favourite things to do. I love almost every part of it even though it can be stressful at times. There's just something about seeing something new at every corner that makes me very happy.
I recently came back from a great trip with my dad to Massachusetts. He showed my his old college in Salem, Salem State, and we met a lot of his school friends which was fun. One of my highlights was when we went to The Top Of The Hub, a restaurant in Boston which is on the 52nd floor, for brunch. The view was spectacular. We also went to Harvard which was pretty memorable and I have to say the campus was so nice and now I want to go to Harvard haha.
Here are pictures from my favourite moments on the trip.

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you liked it. <3

My Flight Essentials

I've been soooo busy lately. I've had 13 exams in 19 days but I had my last one today which means... SUMMER HOLIDAY! I don't have to think about school until August and it feels so good. And even better my dad is taking me to the USA. We'll stay somewhere between Boston and Salem, where my dad went to uni. He's going to show me his old school and the campus, We're also going to meet some of his best friends and I'm getting very excited. We leave Thursday morning and I'm going to start packing tonight, hence, I decided to show you my travel essentials.

  1. Headphones. If I could not have music on flights they would be a lot worse than they already are and more stressing. Music can really take my mind off things and calm me down.
  2. Passport. Well that's quite obvious but still.
  3. Entertainment. Movies, TV-shows or even colouring books can be a must during flights. I normally take both a book and a colouring book with me on board. If my flight does not have an entertainment system I normally take my iPad or just use my phone with downloaded movies or TV-shows on Netflix.
  4. Lip balm and hand-cream. My skin can get really dry during flights so proper moisturising can be essential
  5. Camera. I like to have my camera in my carry-on because then I always have it on me and I can take pictures if I see a photo opportunity.
  6. Earplugs and sanitiser. If you want to sleep without getting distracted earplugs can be a great solution. Hand sanitiser can also come in handy especially if you're anything like me and are a little paranoid about catching the flu.
  7. Sunglasses. If you're landing when it's most likely sunny sunglasses can be a save. But I'm also just very overprotective of my things so I don't want them to break haha.
  8. A little make up. I often bring a concealer and maybe a mascara just to touch up after my flight.
  9. Staying hydrated. Grab a water bottle before you go on the flight and maybe also a soft drink if you fancy one. ;)
  10. Grab a bite. I need to have some kind of snacks with me. I try to stay healthy and take a nut mix or something but I have to take some sweets with me as well hahah.
  11. A bag to store your things. I use my Fjallraven Kånken backpack because it's light and it looks pretty! It's also my school bag. :)

Thanks for reading this post and I hope it can help you plan your next trip.

P.s. I will also be posting a lot on my instagram stories while I'm away so if you want to see what I'm up to you can follow me @onegirlblogger .

Eight Things To Do On A Rainy Day

Exams are starting next Friday and I have to say I am really nervous and stressed but I hope I'll manage. I've also just been exhausted for the last few days and I really need to make time in my day to clear my head and just breathe. So, I made this list of fun and relaxing things to do on a rainy day, and this list might also help me out with relaxing even though it's not a rainy day ;).
  1. Have an at-home spa day. Get out your face masks and bath bombs and have a well deserved relaxing day.
  2. Have a movie/series marathon. Harry Potter, Friends, Disney movies, whatever you like. Sometimes there's nothing better than watching movies and eating popcorn all day.
  3. Read your favourite book again. Because why not? Sinking into a book can sometimes be a nice escape from real life, especially on a bad day.
  4. Bake. I think baking is one of the most fun and relaxing thing to do. Whenever I feel stressed or just bored I almost always bake. If you're feeling creative you could even try and make your own recipe.
  5. Change your room. Change can be a great thing and sometimes you can just get a bit bored of your surroundings so why not change them up a bit?
  6. Make some DIY. There are so many useful and fun things you can make yourself and websites like Pinterest have thousands of great ideas you can try out.
  7. Go to the nearest shopping centre. See what's trending this season and eat unhealthy food (in most cases at least.
  8. Go for a rainy walk. Embrace the rain! I think rain is underrated to be honest haha. Whether you decide to use an umbrella or not you'll have a healthy stroll in the fresh rain air.

Only rainy day photo I had hahah (bit moved but allright)
Thanks for reading, I hope you found these tips helpful whether it's a rainy day or not.

Getting A Puppy

First of all I'd like to say I'm sorry for not posting in so long but I've just been so busy with school and everything. I promise I'll try my best to be more active since I really enjoy my blog and my readers. <3

So last weekend something quite unexpected happened, we got a puppy! Her name is Hnota, or Walnut in English, and she's a miniature dachshund. She's one of the cutest things I have ever seen. She is very lively and playful and a bit naughty. We've now had her since last Saturday, around 5 days, and she is slowly getting used to new surroundings, along with our cat. The funniest thing about their relationship is that she constantly wants to play with him but my cat just looks at her with disgust and thinks she's silly. It's very much like Garfield and Odie's relationship.

Other than that fairly little has happened in the past month but I did purchase my first "real camera" and I'm very happy with it. It's a Canon EOS 750D and I've used it quite a bit over the last month. Me and my cousin went outside and had a photo shoot which was very fun. We went into some broken down greenhouse and got some great shots. Turns out it wasn't totally abandoned since the owner came in there but we maneged to run away. Oh well at least we made fun memories.

That's all for now, I hope you enjoyed this post and be sure to comment if you did <3
Also, if you have any ideas for blog posts or you'd like to collab just leave a comment or send me an email.

Love,

Ballet (playlist)

When I was younger I used to do ballet for a few years and as far as I know, enjoyed myself, at least until I wanted to do handball instead. Then I started to do jazz ballet and had one ballet lesson per week which were my favourite classes.
So, when my cousin asked me whether I'd want to start ballet with her again I went for it. I know it's not common and hard to start again at 16 but it's never too late I suppose. So now I've been going to ballet twice a week for a month and it is one of most fun things I do. I actually find myself smiling at some points. In my last class we were doing a jumping and waltz rountine to a song by Tame Impala which inspired me to make this playlist of songs that make me want to dance. I hope you like it can dance to some of the songs. :)

Me in ballet when I was younger also the only girl not in pink haha

Hope you liked this post and enjoyed the playlist.

Love,
Stella

2017 Resolutions

Happy new year everybody! How has your year been so far?

I've never really had any official resolutions for a new year but for now I decided to do a few realistic ones that I'm pretty sure I'll be able to stick to. So here are my (sort of late) resolutions.

  1. Drink more water. I really need to hydrate more and I got a really pretty water bottle for christmas which makes it more fun to carry water around and to the gym also.
  2. Be more ambitious. I used to be really ambitious concerning everything but after I started my new school there's been so much to do that all my ambition has gone away and I don't like that. Therefore I want to try to put ambition into everything I do. Even if it's history class.
  3. Bring my own food to school at least 4 times a week. For the last few months I have spent so much money on food every month buying my lunch. However if I'd bother to make lunch, take leftovers or just go to the shop with my parents I wouldn't have to spend so much money on food. So that's what I will try to do this year, at least 4 times a week. Since my school is in the centre of downtown it can sometimes be nice to go out with your friends once a week for lunch.
  4. Go to the gym 3 times a week or more. When I had exams in December me and my friend decided to go to the gym everyday in the exams it was about 14 days ca. And it felt so good to move everyday, even if it was just for 45 min it was so nice. I also felt so much difference in myself whilst I did this.
  5. Read at least 10 books other than school books. Over the holidays I read Binge by Tyler Oakley which was so good and I also read the first Harry Potter book which was brilliant!
  6. Be more active on my blog. Because I love blogging and it really makes me feel good. So if you have any ideas for what you'd like to see on here or you'd like to collab, please just leave a comment or contact me by email. <3

That's all for now my lovelies, hope you liked this post and be sure to comment if you did. 'til next time,
Stella xx
